For those interested in CRM, the Business Solutions group has merged with Information Worker to form the Microsoft Business division.

For CRM I can see little impact given that much of the most recent changes have been to integrate more deeply with Office and this integration is only going to go further with Sharepoint and Windows Workflow Foundation.

I am still not sure what to make of this and in particular how it affects the Microsoft CRM product. So in the meantime there are more questions than answers and more speculation than substance.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2005-09-12T16:46:58Z</dcterms:modified>

Oracle buys Siebel

Following its purchase of PeopleSoft in January, Oracle are buying Siebel. Among the features customers and partners requested were:

Code to simplify the installation of the product for small businesses.
Improved "workflows," especially in the areas of marketing- and service-automation.
More exposed application programming interfaces (APIs), making it easier for developers to build applications that embed and/or ride atop Microsoft CRM.

I am torn on this as I want CRM 2005 to be a knock out and what we saw during Alpha testing was very encouraging but this delay is very frustrating.
Matthew Wittemann on ICU MSCRM summarises a lot of what I am thinking at the moment. Check out his blog at http://icu-mscrm.blogspot.com/2005/02/aaaaaaaaarrrrrggghhhhh-crm-2005.html
More details on this can be found on the following links:
http://www.cbronline.com/article_news.asp?guid=9FDD279B-7101-4469-B7B7-4ED572AFEEDC
http://www.microsoft-watch.com/article2/0,1995,1763858,00.asp
I am interested in what people think about this. Is it a good thing or not?
